Dear Cherri,
Emmys: Last week, we inadvertently left off
two categories from the 2008 Creative Arts Emmy Awards that
included nominations for many of our members. We are proud of the
accomplishments of all our brothers & sisters, and are sorry
for the oversight. See story below for a list of members nominated
in the categories of Outstanding Technical Direction, Camerawork,
Video Control For A Series and Outstanding Technical Direction,
Camerawork, Video Control For A Miniseries, Movie Or A
Special.
Training: Don't miss out on Local 600's
next Mega-Digital workshop in Detroit next month. Get trained on
the latest cameras: the ARRI D-21, Panasonic AJ-HPX3000,
Panavision Genesis, Sony F23 and F35. Deadline's this Thursday.
See announcement in our sidebar
below.
Dueling Perceptions:
We've presented two stories below that have different points
of view on our industry. One is from the Wall Street
Journal, the other from Variety. We have presented
them here as an interesting dialogue on how business perceives
Hollywood versus how insiders' view the
industry.
